Scholastique Mukasonga is set to headline the inaugural Salon du livre Africain de Beauregard in France on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
The Salon du livre Africain de Beauregard is a new literary festival organized by the Artères and D-Codes associations, in partnership with the town of Hérouville-Saint-Clair. The festival will be hosted at the Château de Beauregard in Hérouville Saint-Clair and will have readings, panels, and loads more for those who attend. Some of the scheduled guests are Johary Ravaloson, Zadig Hamroune, Chadia Loueslati, Insa Sané, Mamadou Samake, and Sékou Oumar Bah.
The festival headliner is Scholastique Mukasonga, the author of eleven novels and short stories which have won numerous prizes. They include the Ahmadou Kourouma Prize, Seligman Prize from the chancellery of the Universities of Paris against racism and intolerance and discrimination, Renaudot Prize (2012), SGDL Prize for the Short Story, twice finalist for the National Book Award (2019 and 2020), etc. Her works have been translated and published in around thirty countries.

1:30 p.m.: “Towards the end of silence: giving to hear, giving to understand. » With Johary Ravaloson (novel “Tribunal des cailloux”, Dodo vole 2024), mediation by Marie Calmettes.
2:30 p.m.: “Say the crossing. Bear witness to the journey. » With Mamadou Samake (story “The dog who saw the lion”, La Sauce Aux Arts 2023), mediation by Johary Ravaloson.
3:30 p.m.: “Itinerary for the child, construction for the adult. Get out of it, or not. » With Scholastique Mukasonga (“Un si beau diploma” and “Julienne” Gallimard 2024) and Zadig Hamroune (“La nuit barbare”, Emmanuelle Collas, 2023), mediation by Marie Calmettes.
