TS Eliot Prize Shortlist Readings

Hear the best new poetry coming out of the UK and Ireland, read by the ten shortlisted poets for this year’s prize, in an event hosted by poet Ian McMillan.

The TS Eliot Prize, widely regarded as the most prestigious award in poetry, has unveiled its eagerly anticipated shortlist for 2024. Known for recognizing both established literary giants and groundbreaking emerging voices, the prize continues its legacy of reshaping the poetic landscape.

Judging Panel

This year’s shortlist was meticulously curated by an esteemed panel of judges, including Mimi Khalvati (Chair), Hannah Sullivan, and Anthony Joseph, each bringing a wealth of experience and a deep passion for poetry to their deliberations.

The TS Eliot Prize was inaugurated in 1993 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Poetry Book Society and to honor its founder, T.S. Eliot. Today, the prize is awarded by the TS Eliot Foundation, celebrating the transformative power of poetry in all its forms.

The 2024 Shortlist

This year’s selection showcases a dynamic array of poetic voices, themes, and styles, reflecting the vitality of contemporary poetry. The shortlisted works are:

About the Prize

The TS Eliot Prize not only celebrates outstanding achievements in poetry but also amplifies voices that push the boundaries of the art form. Winners of past editions have ranged from internationally renowned poets to emerging writers whose work redefines contemporary poetics.

The winner of the 2024 TS Eliot Prize will be announced at an awards ceremony presented in collaboration with the TS Eliot Foundation.
